design
The Design space. A collection of design projects over two decades of experience designing products ranging from hard goods to soft goods, from product design to footwear design, from transportation design to architectural design.
Transportation Design
My journey in transportation design has encompassed mostly marine projects ranging from a catamaran with ACUI to a next generation pontoon design with SeaDoo. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, I've contributed to the ideation and development of innovative transportation solutions that prioritize user experience, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal. Each project challenged me to consider the nuances of scale, motion, and ergonomics.
Product Design
In the realm of consumer products, I've focused on creating designs that seamlessly integrate into daily life while enhancing user interaction. From juvenile products with Safety 1st to electronics with Lime Design, and to sport equipment with CCM Hockey. My approach emphasizes simplicity and functionality. By understanding user needs and market trends, I've developed products across multiple industries.
Footwear Design
My experience in footwear design began with the Reebok Advanced Concepts team where I sharpened my skills as a conceptual designer, working on projects that blend innovation, performance, comfort, and style. I also collaborated with the Adidas Innovation Team exploring biomimicry to address challenges in performance basketball footwear. Eventually this led to startup projects like Cesta Six.
Architectural Design
My architectural design experience encompasses projects that merge structural integrity with aesthetic expression. As a project manager, designer, and drafter at MO Workshop I had the opportunity to work on residential and commercial spaces, contributing to projects ranging from furniture making to art projects. Through these projects I learned about designing and working with materials like steel, wood, concrete, and glass.
Concept Art
Venturing into concept art has allowed me to visualize ideas that transcend traditional design boundaries. Working on poster design projects for TV5 and Cirque Du Soleil to personal projects merging industrial design + concept art. I've translated narratives into compelling visual concepts that guide the development of immersive experiences. This work involves storytelling through visuals, capturing the essence of characters and settings to inform and inspire production teams.
Mantis
The MANTIS downhill racing wheelchair is my graduation project. This concept was also a finalist in the 2002 Taiwan International Bicycle Design Competition.
Sketches & Renderings
Sketching and rendering are my best forms of expression. Sketches are foundational to my design process, serving as my primary tool to materialize, explore, and communicate ideas. This collection showcases a range of studies, from quick ideation sketches to detailed renderings, reflecting my thought process and attention to form, proportion, and detail.
